Assam Focuses on Multi-Crop Farming to Boost Farmers’ Income

Guwahati, Assam: Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika said Assam has achieved self-sufficiency in rice production, but the government is now focusing on encouraging farmers to adopt multiple crops for higher income. He highlighted the need to improve irrigation facilities and expand cold storage infrastructure. The state is also planning to boost the production of export-oriented products such as Tezpur lychee, Assam lemon, and ginger to meet growing domestic and international demand.
