Assam to Add 16 New Substations, Expand Power Network

Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said Assam is working towards becoming an energy-surplus state by strengthening its power infrastructure. The government plans to set up 16 new substations, add 6,340 MVA grid capacity and commission 957 circuit kilometres of transmission lines.
The move aims to improve power supply, meet growing electricity demand and support industrial and economic growth across the state. Currently, Assam has 82 substations with a combined capacity of 10,000 MVA.
