Nine Arrested in Chirang for Golden Langur Trafficking, Eight Rescued

Chirang: Nine people, including a Bangladeshi national, were arrested in a joint operation by the Special Task Force and local police for allegedly trafficking endangered golden langurs. Eight langurs were rescued during the operation, though one later died due to suffocation during transportation.

Forest officials said the animals were allegedly captured from Chakrashila National Park and were being transported in sacks when intercepted. The remaining seven langurs are undergoing treatment and monitoring by veterinary teams.
