Assam’s First Locally Produced Matcha Tea Sold at Guwahati Auction

Guwahati: Assam achieved a major milestone as its first locally produced Matcha tea was sold at the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre. The 5 kg lot, produced by Chota Tingrai Tea Estate, was auctioned at ₹3,000 per kg and purchased by Sheosons Chai Co. The development marks Assam’s entry into the premium Matcha market, with plans to expand production and target exports, especially to the United States.
