Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project Likely to Be Completed by March 2027

Guwahati: The Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHEP) is expected to be completed by March 2027, with four of its eight generating units already operational. Officials said the project will maintain a 15-metre flood cushion during the monsoon to help regulate normal floods.

Project officials clarified that while water releases will be carefully managed, extreme rainfall events could still cause downstream flooding. The remaining generating units are scheduled to be commissioned in the coming months.
