Assam to Spend ₹49.82 Crore More Monthly on Enhanced DA

Guwahati: The Assam government will incur an additional ₹49.82 crore per month after increasing Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) to 60% for state employees and pensioners, Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah informed the Assembly on Tuesday.

The revised DA and DR took effect from June 2026 and were paid with July salaries and pensions. The minister also said Assam’s outstanding debt has risen to ₹1.62 lakh crore as of March 31, 2025, while the state paid ₹9,467.75 crore in interest during the 2024-25 financial year.
