Centre to Send Team to Assess Assam Flood Damage

Golaghat: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma that an Inter-Ministerial Central Team will soon visit Assam to assess the extent of flood damage and recommend Central assistance for relief and rehabilitation. The assurance came during a phone conversation on Thursday amid the worsening flood situation in the state.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while reviewing the flood situation in Golaghat, said the Centre has assured all possible support for the flood-hit state. He noted that thousands of people have suffered heavy losses, including damage to paddy fields, livestock and important documents, and said the government will extend every possible assistance to the affected families.
