18,000 Flood-Hit Families Yet to Receive Assam Relief Due to Bank Errors

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said over 18,000 flood-affected families are yet to receive the first ₹15,000 relief instalment because of errors in their bank account details, many caused by lost documents during the floods. He assured that payments would be made through cheques or bank drafts if DBT transfers fail. The government also pledged support for relocating vulnerable families, restoring damaged schools, and providing free replacement of textbooks and academic documents lost in the floods.
