Residents Raise Safety Concerns Over High-Voltage Lines in Lumding

Lumding, Assam: Residents of Lumding have raised concerns over the alleged poor condition and inadequate safety measures around several 11 kV and 33 kV power lines and transformers in the town.

Locals claim that some electrical lines are hanging at unsafe heights, while certain transformers allegedly lack proper fencing and warning signs, creating potential risks in populated areas.

Residents have also cited alleged incidents involving livestock coming into contact with electrical installations and demanded an immediate safety inspection of vulnerable infrastructure.

According to residents, APDCL officials have said the matter is “under process,” but no specific timeline for repairs or safety measures has reportedly been provided.

Locals have urged APDCL and the district administration to inspect the electrical network, repair or replace damaged lines, secure transformers and ensure compliance with safety standards before any serious accident occurs.
