Assam Congress Protests BJP Over Alleged Caste Discrimination

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Friday staged a protest in Guwahati against the BJP over an alleged caste discrimination incident involving Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani.

Led by APCC president Gaurav Gogoi, Congress workers marched from Manabendra Sharma Complex but were stopped by Guwahati Police barricades. Gogoi said the protest was aimed at defending equality and constitutional rights, while the party condemned the alleged sprinkling of ‘Ganga jal’ at the Haldwani venue after Kharge’s visit.
