Assam Welcomes World’s First IVF-Born Lakhimi Female Calf

Assam has achieved a major milestone in livestock biotechnology with the birth of the world’s first IVF-born female calf of the indigenous Lakhimi cattle breed at the College of Veterinary Science, Assam Veterinary and Fishery University, Khanapara.

The breakthrough is expected to strengthen the conservation and genetic improvement of Lakhimi cattle, Assam’s only registered indigenous breed, through advanced assisted reproductive technology.
