PWD Engineer Booked Under POCSO Act in Guwahati

Assam Police have registered a case against PWD Executive Engineer Santanu Kumar Nath under the POCSO Act following allegations of sexual abuse of a minor domestic worker at his residence in Majirgaon, Azara. The FIR was lodged at Azara Police Station on September 3 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 6 of the POCSO Act.

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the girl, aged around 16, allegedly revealed the abuse during counselling after being rescued by police on August 25 and placed in a rehabilitation home. The complaint further alleges that Nath tried to suppress the matter through money and threats. Police have not yet traced Nath, who is reportedly absconding.
