Woman Found Dead in Hatigaon Flat, Murder Suspected

Guwahati: A 25-year-old woman, identified as Riya Talukdar Goswami, was found dead inside a rented flat at Basisthapur Bylane in Hatigaon on Sunday. Police recovered her body from the third floor of Anjali Griha after being alerted by her family and have launched an investigation into the suspected murder.

Police have arrested Ramanujan Goswami, identified as the prime accused, after he surrendered at Hatigaon Police Station. Investigators recovered a sharp weapon and liquor bottles from the flat, where bloodstains and scattered household items were reportedly found. Riya’s body was sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination, while police are questioning neighbours, family members and other people acquainted with the couple.
