NFR Freight Loading Grows 4.5% in August

Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recorded 0.957 million tonnes (MT) of freight loading in August 2026, up 4.5% from 0.916 MT during the same month last year. From April to August, cumulative loading reached 5.09 MT, registering 6.5% growth year-on-year.

Cement loading surged 106.6%, while miscellaneous commodities rose 92.3%. Coal and dolomite loading increased by 54.5% and 46.4%, respectively. NFR attributed the growth to improved operational efficiency, better coordination with freight customers and timely transportation of essential goods.
