Zubeen Garg Death Case: Court Orders CID Probe Into Witness Statement Leak

Guwahati: The Exclusive Fast Track Sessions Court, Kamrup (Metro), hearing the Zubeen Garg death case, has directed Assam CID to investigate how a prosecution witness’s statement reached social media and was published by two online platforms.

The court also asked the IG, Prisons, Assam, to take action against the Superintendent of District Jail, Baksa, over documents bearing an accused’s signature that were allegedly not the same documents sent by the court. All seven accused, including Siddharth Sharma, Shyamkanu Mahanta and Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, were remanded to judicial custody till September 14, when the cross-examination of prosecution witness Prateem Lahkar will continue through video conferencing.
