Hajo Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Fake Gold Boat Fraud

Hajo: Police have arrested Atabur Rahman, a resident of Bongalmara in Lakhimpur district, in connection with an alleged fraud involving a fake gold boat sold for ₹4.50 lakh during the Ambubachi Mela.

According to the complaint, a four-member group allegedly approached Gujarat resident Jaydev Tiwari at Agnathuri in Hajo and sold him a boat-shaped object weighing around 600 grams, claiming it was made of genuine gold. Tiwari later discovered that the item was fake and lodged a complaint at Hajo Police Station, following which an investigation was launched.
