Assam Rifles Seizes Suspected Brown Sugar Worth ₹46.60 Lakh in Changlang

Changlang, September 18, 2026: The Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Arunachal Pradesh Police and CRPF, conducted a joint anti-narcotics operation in the Namgoi area of Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh, on September 16.
According to the Assam Rifles, the operation led to the recovery of 233 grams of suspected brown sugar, concealed in 21 soap cases and estimated to be worth around ₹46.60 lakh. Two individuals were also apprehended during the operation.
The security forces said the joint action was part of ongoing efforts to curb the smuggling of narcotic substances in the Northeast. The recovery and arrests also highlighted coordination among the Assam Rifles, state police and CRPF in operations against illegal drug trafficking.
The Namgoi area is officially listed under the Nampong Anchal Block of Changlang district, confirming the location mentioned in the Assam Rifles’ statement.
