Guwahati Launches Month-Long ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign

Guwahati: A special ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ programme was held at the Assam Administrative Staff College to mark the beginning of a month-long cleanliness campaign in the city. The period from September 17 to October 17, 2026, will be observed as ‘Seva Samarpan’ Month, according to the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).

The launch programme was attended by Bijuli Kalita Medhi, MP from Guwahati, Diplu Ranjan Sarmah, MLA of New Guwahati, and Dr. Tapan Das, MLA of Dimoria (SC). GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania, Deputy Mayor Smita Roy, Commissioner Chinmoy Prakash Phookan, ACS, and Sabyasachi Kashyap, ACS, Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban, Assam, were also present along with other officials and dignitaries.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging public participation in cleanliness and civic activities across Guwahati. The month-long observance is expected to involve efforts focused on sanitation, cleanliness and greater community participation.
