Bamboo Procurement Slows After NRL-ABEPL Bio-Ethanol Project Faces Operational Uncertainty

Numaligarh: The NRL-ABEPL 2G Bio-Ethanol Project, inaugurated a year ago, is facing operational uncertainty, with bamboo procurement reportedly remaining largely stalled for around nine months. The development has raised concerns among bamboo farmers and local-level entrepreneurs associated with the project.

The entrepreneurs had invested in dedicated bamboo-chipping units, with several reportedly taking bank loans to support procurement and processing. Industry sources said the prolonged uncertainty has created financial difficulties for both the entrepreneurs and thousands of farmers who depend on them for bamboo procurement. NRL, however, has stated that the facility is currently undergoing a stabilisation process before commercial production begins.
