Washington: US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan to the White House on Thursday during Xi’s state visit to the United States. The leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties, with trade, technology, artificial intelligence, critical minerals and broader economic relations among the key areas on the agenda.

Trump highlighted his relationship with Xi and the importance of continued engagement between the two countries. The visit included a formal summit and state dinner, while further discussions focused on trade arrangements and technology-related issues. The White House said Xi’s visit, from September 23 to 25, marked his second formal state visit to the US.
