CM Reacts to Gauhati University Student’s Death

Guwahati: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed grief over the death of 21-year-old Gauhati University student Nimisha Thakuria at a homestay in Dharapur. He said the investigation would examine her statements, social media posts and other circumstances, and assured that those found guilty would face action.

Nimisha was found unconscious at Rudra’s Kitchen homestay on Saturday and was later declared dead at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. Police have arrested Ashiq Ali, who was staying with her, and homestay worker Mintu Ali, who allegedly supplied alcohol to the two. Police are investigating all possible angles in the case.
