Akhil Gogoi’s Flood Relief Protest Crosses 100 Hours

Guwahati: Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi’s indefinite sit-in at the Assam Legislative Assembly premises crossed 100 hours on Tuesday. He accused the government of failing to adequately address the concerns of flood-affected people in Upper Assam.

Gogoi said he would wait until 7 PM on Wednesday before launching a larger democratic protest from October 8 if there is no response. His demands include immediate flood relief payments, ₹10 lakh compensation for each affected family, a CBI inquiry into the disaster, expanded Orunodoi benefits and funds to rebuild damaged infrastructure.
