Ripun Bora Injured During Congress Protest in Guwahati

Former Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora was injured during a protest in Guwahati on Thursday as the Congress observed a statewide “Black Day” against alleged police action on Opposition leaders in Delhi. Bora was taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after a confrontation between protesters and police near Rajiv Bhawan. Congress leaders alleged that several workers were injured and claimed Bora required four stitches for his leg injury.
Police detained several senior Congress leaders and party workers after barricades were placed to stop the rally. The detainees were taken to the 4th Assam Police Battalion headquarters in Kahilipara and were reportedly released around 5:30 pm. Congress workers also staged demonstrations across Assam, alleging excessive force against Opposition leaders and raising concerns over democratic rights and the electoral process.
