AIIMS Guwahati Welcomes Up to 70% Price Cut on 137 Anti-Cancer Medicines

Guwahati: AIIMS Guwahati has welcomed the Centre’s initiative to reduce prices of 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer medicines by up to 70% from November 9, 2026. The move, led by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), aims to make cancer treatment more affordable and reduce the financial burden on patients and their families.

The medicines include pembrolizumab, durvalumab, osimertinib and bevacizumab, used to treat different types of cancer. AIIMS Guwahati Executive Director Prof. Ashok Puranik urged patients and caregivers to check revised prices through hospital pharmacies, the NPPA website or the Pharma Sahi Daam app, and consult their oncologists before changing prescribed treatment.
