Assam Cabinet Approves Five Ropeway Projects to Boost Tourism and Connectivity

Guwahati, November 4: The Assam Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has approved an agreement with the Central Government to develop five ropeway projects across the state. A joint Ropeway Development Authority will be established, with the Centre holding a 51% stake and the Assam Government retaining 49%. The initiative aims to improve connectivity, promote tourism and ease traffic congestion.
The proposed routes will connect Kamakhya Railway Station to Kamakhya Temple, Khanapara to Guwahati Railway Station, Ganganagar to Bhuban Mahadev Temple, Jatinga Bird Watching Tower to Hempeupet Peak, and Agnigarh to Bhairabi Temple. The ₹201.52 crore Kamakhya ropeway project has already reached the tendering stage, while the remaining four projects are undergoing preliminary assessments.
