GMC Holds Second Day of Census 2027 Population Enumeration Training in Guwahati

Guwahati, November 7, 2026: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) continued its district-level training programme for Population Enumeration under Phase II of Census 2027 at the GMC office in Uzan Bazar on Saturday. The second day of the programme focused on strengthening officials’ preparedness and familiarising them with the procedures, protocols and technical requirements for conducting the census accurately and systematically.

Biswajit Pegu, IAS, Director of Census Operations, Assam, attended the programme and addressed the participants, sharing insights into the census process. Pranab Dutta Goswami, ACS, City Census Officer-cum-Additional Commissioner, GMC, and Surajit Dey from the Directorate of Census Operations were also present. Charge Officers, Charge Assistants and Technical Assistants actively participated in the training.

The programme aimed to improve coordination among census personnel, ensure procedural accuracy and strengthen administrative preparedness across all census charges under GMC’s jurisdiction. The civic body emphasised the importance of continuous training and effective coordination to ensure smooth and accurate population enumeration during Census 2027.
