AASAA Welcomes Assam Cabinet’s Relaxation of ‘Three Generation Criteria’ for Adivasis

The All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) welcomed the Assam Cabinet’s decision to relax the ‘Three Generation Criteria’ for Adivasis and tea garden workers regarding their indigenous status. In a press release, AASAA leaders Godwin Hemrom and Amarjyoti Surin expressed concerns about land rights for Adivasis in forest villages and border areas ahead of the Mission Bhumiputra 3.0 launch. The organization called for corruption-free services and urged the government to prevent the sale of Adivasi-owned land to other communities while addressing other key issues like wages and caste certificates.
