AASU Backs Forest Evictions, Seeks Action Against Patronage

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) supported eviction drives in notified forest areas, urging action against political leaders and forest officials who enabled encroachments. President Utpal Sarma cited Clause 10 of the Assam Accord, calling for complete eviction and verification of encroachers’ citizenship. He demanded land for landless genuine Indians without altering demographics and sought NRC re-verification through a Supreme Court affidavit.
