AASU Raises Concerns Over NEP Implementation in Assam

The All Assam Students’ Union has raised concerns over the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Assam, citing a shortage of teachers and poor infrastructure in colleges and universities.

AASU president Utpal Sarma said the government should have improved classrooms, laboratories and staffing before introducing the policy. He also criticised the decision to stop hiring contractual teachers without filling vacant posts.

Sarma further urged the government to hold discussions with educationists and student bodies to improve the quality of government schools following poor HSLC and Higher Secondary exam results.
