Brahmaputra Erosion Threatens Several Villages in Majuli

Several villages in Lower Majuli are facing severe erosion from the Brahmaputra River, with residents demanding urgent scientific measures to save their land and homes.
Villages including Baghgaon, Samguri, Missamara and Dhuli are under threat, while many families have already been displaced multiple times due to erosion continuing since 1973.
Locals said entire areas have vanished over the years and accused authorities of failing to provide a permanent solution. Residents have appealed to Assam Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika to visit the erosion-hit areas and take immediate action.
