AASU Slams CM Sarma’s Remarks on Khetri Accident, Announces Statewide Protest

Guwahati: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has criticised Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s remarks that factors beyond potholes should be examined in the Khetri road accident that claimed seven lives. AASU president Utpal Sarma termed the comments insensitive and demanded immediate improvement of roads across Assam.

AASU has announced a statewide human-chain protest on September 11, including along National Highways, seeking repairs and better road conditions. The students’ body also questioned the government’s claims of all-weather connectivity and said responsibility for unsafe roads during the monsoon must be addressed.
