AASU Slams Govt Over 40-Year Delay in Implementing Assam Accord

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) accused the Centre and State of “utter failure” in implementing the Assam Accord, even after 40 years. They warned that the delay has endangered Assam’s identity, rights, and indigenous people’s existence. AASU alleged unchecked illegal migration, unsealed borders, demographic changes, and threats to national security. On August 15, they will hold candlelight tributes for 860 Assam Movement martyrs and pledged to continue their fight. Key demands include full Accord implementation, sealing the Indo-Bangladesh border, NRC update, CAA withdrawal, and constitutional safeguards for indigenous people.
