Adivasi Council Warns of Unrest if 42 Communities Excluded from SC List

The Adivasi Tea Tribe Scheduled Caste Demand Council warned the Assam government that excluding 42 Adivasi communities from the Scheduled Caste list could spark state-wide unrest. Council leaders said the move would violate the 2022 Adivasi Peace Accord and demanded inclusion of all 42 groups recommended in a second expert report, along with the 36 already listed. They accused some organisations of trying to divide the Adivasi movement and urged unity to secure constitutional rights. The Council vowed to continue its democratic struggle until all 42 communities receive SC status.
