AIUDF Criticizes Assam CM for Remarks on Madrasa Closure
The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) condemned Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his recent remarks about closing 600 madrasas in the state. AIUDF President Badruddin Ajmal called Sarma’s comments, which suggested the country needs “doctors and engineers, not mullahs,” divisive and prejudiced. Ajmal urged Sarma to focus on providing professional education for Muslims rather than making provocative statements. He emphasized that Assam’s development is impossible without including its 34% Muslim population and accused the government of failing to establish educational institutions in Muslim-majority areas.
