AJP Seeks CM Sarma’s Inclusion in Probe on Extra-Judicial Killings

The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) has urged that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma be included in the Assam Human Rights Commission’s probe into extra-judicial killings, ordered by the Supreme Court. AJP leaders allege Sarma, in 2021, directed police to shoot suspected criminals in the legs, sparking a surge in encounter deaths. They called the probe vital for accountability and restoring rule of law.
