Alarming Rise in HIV Cases Among Assam’s Youth

HIV/AIDS cases are surging in Assam, with Jorhat Medical College reporting 2,103 positive cases, including 200 this year alone. Most infections are linked to drug use, and worrying trends show rising cases among students and prison inmates. Infections are also spreading to Sivasagar, Majuli, Golaghat, and Nagaland border areas. Health officials are intensifying awareness drives in schools, colleges, and jails to curb the spread.
