Alleged Human Trafficking Scandal: Women in Assam Accuse Placement Agency of Deceptive Job Promises

A group of women in Assam, who underwent training by a placement agency with promises of hospital jobs in North India, have approached Cachar Police with allegations of suspected human trafficking against the agency. The women claim that after training for general duty, the agency assured them jobs in patient care in North Indian hospitals. However, some found themselves assigned to cleaning duties in Ghaziabad. Cachar SP Numal Mahatta confirmed the police is investigating the matter, while the agency officials deny the allegations, stating that trainees might not always get preferred placements.
