American Tourist Dies in Road Accident in Assam

Berry Thompson, an American tourist on a motorcycle tour of Northeast India, tragically died in a road accident in Assam’s Hojai district on December 21.

While traveling from Silchar to Tezpur, her two-wheeler collided with a truck during a turn, reportedly due to a misjudged maneuver. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Thompson succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

The truck driver is in custody as the police investigate the incident. The U.S. Consulate has been notified, and repatriation procedures are underway.

Thompson’s death highlights ongoing road safety concerns, particularly on tourist routes.
