APCC President Criticizes BJP Government, Promises Change in Assam

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah criticized the BJP-led state government, labeling it a ‘trouble-giving engine’ rather than a ‘double engine’ of progress. Speaking at a series of poll campaign meetings in Sonitpur HPC, Borah highlighted unfulfilled promises and alleged failures of the BJP government under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He accused the government of neglecting issues such as job creation, price hikes, and the forceful implementation of CAA, leading to citizens’ suffering and a suppression of democratic rights. Borah expressed confidence in Congress winning a minimum of 10 seats in the general election, urging voters to bring about change through their mandate. The party’s Sonitpur seat candidate, Premalal Ganju, echoed Borah’s sentiments, pledging to prioritize youth employment and development if elected. The campaign event was attended by prominent Congress figures, including District President Dadul Barkataki and former MP Bulin Kuli.
