APDCL Proposes Tariff Hike Amid Govt’s Re 1 Subsidy Plan

APDCL has proposed an electricity tariff hike, conflicting with the Assam government’s plan to reduce rates by Re 1 per unit from May 1, 2025. The Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (AERC) held a public hearing to review opinions from various organizations. AERC will finalize the tariff for 2025-26 after considering feedback. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog announced a Rs 300 crore subsidy for 48 lakh consumers using up to 120 units monthly.
