Arrest of Fugitive Primary Suspect in Chandrapur Gang Rape Case Brings Relief

The Guwahati police successfully apprehended the primary suspect, Sanjib Barman, in the gang rape of a 13-year-old girl in the Chandrapur neighborhood after six days of the heinous crime. Sanjib Barman, who had been a fugitive, voluntarily turned himself in to the Pragjyotishpur police. In addition to the arrest, the police recovered a four-wheeler with registration number AS-01-FG-3660 and a two-wheeler with registration number AS-01-FQ-8476 linked to the incident. Earlier, two accomplices, Dipankar Roy and Nilu Malo, were detained, arrested, and remanded in police custody on January 24. The immediate action by Pragjyotishpur police led to the arrest of two culprits after the crime came to light, although the prime accused initially managed to escape the scene.
