ASDMA Issues Thunderstorm and Heavy Rain Alert for Assam Districts

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Monday issued a weather alert for Darrang and Kamrup Metropolitan districts, warning of severe thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall in the next few hours.

Authorities said intense rain may cause waterlogging, poor visibility, and disruptions in low-lying areas. Residents have been advised to stay indoors and take precautions.

ASDMA also warned people in Dibrugarh to avoid the banks of the Brahmaputra River due to rising water levels.

The weather department has predicted continued thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across Assam until May 31.
