Assam Administration Begins Poll Preparations Ahead of Assembly Elections

Even before the announcement of Assembly election dates, the Assam administration has begun preparations for the polls, likely to be declared by end of this month or early March. Elections may be held in one or two phases, depending on availability of central forces.

Election Commission officials have already assessed the ground situation, while the full Commission is scheduled to visit Assam on March 18 to finalise the poll schedule. The state administration has also planned force deployment for both scenarios to ensure smooth elections.
