Assam Among Top Three States in Mining Readiness Category B

Assam has secured a spot among the top three states in Category B of the State Mining Readiness Index (SMRI). Goa, Uttar Pradesh, and Assam lead this category, while Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat top Category A.

The ranking, released by the Ministry of Mines, evaluates states based on auction performance, exploration, mine operationalisation, and sustainable mining efforts. The initiative aims to boost mining sector reforms and aligns with the Union Budget 2025–26 announcement.
