Assam Balances Thermal and Renewable Energy to Meet Rising Demand

Amid rising power demand, Assam is adopting a dual strategy of boosting thermal and renewable energy. Officials cited solar and hydropower inconsistencies, stressing the need for reliable thermal power to ensure grid stability. The State aims to develop 2,000 MW of thermal power by 2030 and 5,000 MW by 2035, with private participation. Simultaneously, renewable projects like solar plants by SJVN, NLC, OIL, and ADB-backed initiatives will continue.
