Assam Begins Survey to Identify Non-Indigenous Settlers on Forest Land
The Assam government has launched a survey to identify non-indigenous settlers on forest lands around Guwahati, excluding revenue lands and indigenous communities. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified the move is not religion-based but targets demographic disruption. He also hinted at land rights for indigenous residents under Mission Basundhara III. The survey aims to reduce urban stress in Guwahati, which is facing overpopulation.
