Assam BJP Prepares for Panchayat Polls with Local Tie-Ups
The Assam BJP will allow district presidents to form local alliances with NDA partners like AGP and UPPL for the panchayat polls in January-February. However, the party will contest statewide independently, focusing on booth-level strength.
Candidates at the gaon panchayat level will contest as Independents, adhering to BJP principles. State BJP member Vijay Kumar Gupta expressed confidence in sweeping the polls, citing strong grassroots organization and the success of welfare schemes.
The party, which has restructured over 25,000 booth committees, expects support from all communities, including minorities, following victories in minority-dominated constituencies. Membership has reached 66 lakh, with new leadership to be finalized by January.
