Assam Cabinet Expands with Four New Ministers

Four new ministers—Krishnendu Paul, Kaushik Rai, Prasanta Phukan, and Rupesh Goala—were sworn into the Assam Cabinet on Saturday at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati. Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in attendance.

The new appointments aim to ensure regional representation, with two ministers from Southern Assam. CM Sarma announced a reshuffle to reallocate portfolios, prioritizing governance and regional development.

This reshuffle follows the BJP-led NDA’s recent by-poll victories and the resignation of Minister Sanjay Kishan. It focuses on inclusivity and preparation for the 2026 Assembly elections.
