Assam Boosts Border Security Amid Infiltration Surge

Amid a rise in illegal infiltration attempts from Bangladesh, Assam Chief Secretary has called for heightened security along the Indo-Bangladesh border. During a key meeting, the establishment of 12 new border police stations in four districts—Cachar, Karimganj, Dhubri, and South Salmara—was proposed. Efforts to control illegal immigration include enhanced coordination between the BSF and state agencies, electronic surveillance, and reinforced manpower at Border Outposts. In the past two months, 128 Bangladeshi nationals have been pushed back by the BSF.
