Assam Budget 2026-27 Announces Film on Lachit Barphukan

Guwahati: The Assam Government has announced financial support for a commercial feature film on legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan as part of the 2026-27 State Budget. The Budget also includes assistance for a film on freedom fighter Swahid Kushal Konwar and plans to hold the grand closing ceremony of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s birth centenary celebrations in New Delhi later this year.
